Commencing his political career as a student union leader, Rajiv Pratap Rudy is an eminent political leader in India. He served as the Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) and Parliamentary Affairs in Shri Narendra Modi’s government.

During Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government, Captain Rudy was the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry. He was subsequently elevated as the Civil Aviation Minister with Independent Charge in 2003. He is currently serving his 4th term in the Lok Sabha. He has also been elected twice as the Member of Rajya Sabha from the state of Bihar

He was first elected as an MLA from Taraiya in his home state of Bihar in 1990 at the age of 27. Rudy has served at various organizational roles in his party including the National General Secretary and the National Spokesperson in his political career spanning nearly three decades.

He is credited as the only Parliamentarian on the globe operating Airbus – 320 jets, flying with one of the largest airlines in India. His name also figures in the Limca book of World records. He is credited with flying a Sukhoi 30-MKI, a fighter aircraft in the Indian Air Force, the Rafael fighter Jet and Gripen, world class supersonic fighter Jets on different occasions.

His tenure in Civil Aviation witnessed comprehensive reforms in India, where the footprints can still be observed today. As the first Minister of Skill Development in the Government of India he successful established a robust Skill eco-system.

Professionally, he is a teacher of economics in a university and has had a stint as a Legal Counsel apart from his deep association with the field of Aviation. He is also the President of Aero Club of India and Secretary (Administration) Constitution Club of India.

He represents the Parliamentary Constituency of Saran in Bihar. He completed his schooling from Patna and subsequently graduated in law from Punjab University, Chandigarh. He also holds a post graduate degree in Economics from Magadh University.
